When the man you love has told you he wants to move on and you are sitting alone, thinking of how much you miss him. It is then that you feel like a fool for just standing there without saying a word. Now you can think of all sorts of things to say. But you are probably not thinking of the special words that will bring him back fast. I’ll give you a clue – they are not “I love you”.
But, you might be tempted to run after your ex boyfriend and try to tell him you love him and cannot live without him. That would be a huge mistake, for several reasons. Among those reasons are the fact that he is still angry and does not want any communication from you. It will also make you look needy and desperate and he will lose respect for you.
If you want to shake him up and get his full attention, the special words you should say is “I agree”. Saying these words will catch him completely off guard. He expected you to cry and beg him to change his mind. But, when you tell him you agree, he will be as speechless as you were at the time of the breakup. You can stun him even more, if you can have the strength to smile and tell him you had been considering the same thing. Then give him a hug and get him out the door.
By not being upset when he told you he wanted to end the relationship, you have made him feel rejected. You have turned things around and your ex is wondering who got dumped. You might not realize it, but you have just used male psychology to push his emotional hot buttons. Men cannot stand to be rejected. It hurts their pride and ego to be cast aside.
Your ex boyfriend had carefully planned the breakup and it has somehow made him the one that is wondering what happened. He will also be surprised that he has new respect for you and he feels attracted to you again. In fact it is almost as it was when he first met you. You seem unattainable and he has an immense desire for you. This will cause your ex boyfriend to be making new plans. These plans will be to get you back.
Simply by having the strength to say “I agree” you have turned what might have been a disaster into making him want you again. In the next few days, your ex will go over and over the breakup and try to see where he blew it. What he will realize is that you did not say “I love you” or that you couldn’t live without him. That will add to his confusion and desperation. In the end he will conclude that in order to be content again, he will have to find a way to get you back.
